 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Woodstock United Methodist Child Care Center, a nonprofit religious exempt organization, is an outreach ministry of the Woodstock United Methodist Church. The Center, under the direction of the Church’s Child Care Center Committee serves Woodstock and the surrounding communities.

STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

Our program at the Child Care Center is designed to provide a loving; secure; Christian environment for children ages six (6) weeks to ten (10) years old. A wide range of developmental activities is offered to promote and enhance a child’s intellectual; physical; social; emotional and spiritual growth. Our goal is to assist each child in reaching his/her potential and prepare them for a positive kindergarten experience.

CURRICULUM

Our program is based on the Creative Curriculum which is used in our public county schools. Our program also implements ideas from the Emergent Curriculum and Reggio Emilia Curriculum.

The Reggio Emilia approach is an early childhood program in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The preschools in Reggio have been named in the top 10 best educational programs.

Emergent curriculum is a philosophy of teaching and way of planning curriculum that focuses on being responsive to children's interests to create meaningful learning experiences.

Using Creative Curriculum, children are immersed in learning through purposeful play-based experiences on topics they’re familiar with from their everyday lives. Children find opportunities for rigorous skill development like counting, measurement, and language comprehension while also developing positive relationships, gross-motor skills, and problem-solving abilities.

All the classrooms at our facility are set-up using the Creative Curriculum program. Any changes to the room need to be approved through the Director.
